I had to start over and create a whole new file. In the process I now have 4 files.

I click on file their are 4 files listed and which ever one I select is the one that comes up. I do not want to use the other files and don't want any accidents to happen. How do I close them out?

If you are sure you don't ever want the other 3 files, simply delete them using Windows. If you subsequently click on a deleted file in Quicken's File menu, Quicken will notice the file is gone and ask whether you want it removed from the recently used file list. Say Yes.

For the files that you don't want, open them in Quicken, on the File Menu, select "Show this file on my computer", which will open up Windows Explorer to the file's folder. Write down the file's location for later use, do this for all of the files you want to delete, and as the last step, open the file you want to keep (to make it the file that Q will open the next time it is started).Close Quicken, go to each of those files in Windows Explorer and delete them. Make sure you don't delete the one you want to keep.When done, Start Quicken, on the File menu, one by one, select the deleted files from the recent files list (bottom of the File menu), Quicken will report that they do not exist and offer to remove them from the recent file list.
