What's the difference? Why do both options exist?

I'm wondering where your "Undistributed" category came from. It's not one of Quicken's default categories in a new file. Did you migrate from Quicken Windows? I'm wondering if it came from some past version of Quicken?

Also, where are you seeing Appreciation and Depreciation adjustments? I'm not familiar with that. Just making sure, you are using Quicken Mac, correct?

@H3MD Where are you seeing "undistributed"? (I'm not familiar with that in Quicken Mac.)

There are two seemingly similar default categories for transactions that don't fit others -- Undistributed and Uncategorized. For example, I don't track actual investmnet income, losses, transactions, etc. In my investment accounts I simply record increases or decreases (labled Appreciation and Depreciation). I can select either undistributed or uncategorized as the category. Does Quicken consider them different?

    Yes, Quicken Mac.

I suppose it's possible I created "Undistributed" many years ago, when I first started using Quicken -- probably 15+ years --whenever the old "Dolars and Sense" product was discontinued. I don't recall creating such a category -- or maybe Quicken picked it up when I migrated from D&S?

I made up the Appreciation and Depreciation as common transaction names.

    Thanks for your help!
