How to "downgrade" qdata file to windows 2010.

I upgraded to windows 10 and when I ran quicken my data file would not load because it is from a "newer" version of quicken. How do I change qdata so I can use quicken2010?

You can't, you will need go to a backup before you converted the Quicken data file using a newer version of Quicken.

I didn't convert the data file. It's the same one I was using prior to upgrading to win10.

Did you have to reinstall the Quicken program?  Which version?

If you reinstalled an older program like 2011 or older you have to update it to the latest release.  Quicken doesn't have the updates for old programs anymore so find it here....

One of the SuperUsers has posted the update patches for older versions (2000 and newer) of Quicken

I'm staying on Quicken 2013 Premier for Windows.

When Quicken says that a data file is from a "newer" version there are three causes I can think of.
    1. You in fact used a newer year version of Quicken, and as such the data format was changed, and the older version will not read that data file.
    2. The data file got corrupted in some way.
    3. Very rarely they change the format of the data file in the middle of the year.  I think that has happened only a couple of times in the whole history of Quicken.  If that is the case then what @volvogirl has suggested to get the latest version of Quicken 2010 might fix the problem.  But I'm doubtful because I don't think Quicken 2010 had such mid year data file switch.

Very help posts. I patched my vers 10 to the latest but had the same result - newer version not readable. What I don't understand is that this happened within 12 hours. I was running win7 and q2010 worked fine. I upgraded to win10 and have had other problems. This one is significant since I have 10+ years of data in the data file. 2010 is the only version I've ever used - I think. How can I find out which version my data file is compatible with?

You can't. Do you have any backups or other copies of your data file?

I have a backup from August. I tried to restore from that but rec'd the same message - that it was from a newer version of quicken and couldn't be opened.

You could try the free version of Quicken 2013 Deluxe.
