I have received a report that Quicken 2017 just pushed out an automatic update to 26.1.20.6 (last "known" Mondo is 26.1.20.5).

If anyone can find the Mondo patch install for this, or knows anything else about it, can you please let me know.

I can confirm that I received the Quicken 2017 20.6 update over the weekend on my old Windows 7 system which is still in service. It installed unexpectedly as usual (after requesting escalation) when the 2017 product was launched. As with the 20.5 update last May (2020), no hint was provided as to what changed, and the old URL for the change log now just fetches an upgrade promo. I can only guess that it was a marketing update with new push messaging, but that's just speculation, FWIW.

I don't think you would be talking about a promo push.  The promo pushes seem to come in using what they call a data patch which is when quick and starts it looks for updates to data files like the financial institutions information.

Patch versions are for updating the program itself for some reason.

On the data patching there isn't any prompting even from Windows because they can do that without elevating the permissions since they're just changing data files that the user already has access to.

Okay, then I have no clue as to what changed. This was definitely a full program update. I watched as it copied all the production files to the installation folder, so it was definitely a full release update. Thanks for your reply. I've been having trouble with "Quicken Window" freezing up sometimes when I try to close the program after the product has been paged out to disk for awhile due to inactivity and system memory is over-committed. If I haven't used the app in several hours, I've learned to open several of my largest Quicken registers to bring them back forward into memory before closing the app, otherwise the GUI may freeze or crash. No damage to the data file, though, fortunately. Would be delighted if they've fixed that.

Well I don't know about that problem and fix or whatever but personally I see no real good reason for leaving Quicken open for hours when you're not using it.

It just doesn't take that long for it to open.

Another person got this update too, and sent the release notes that went with it:
"• Fixed: A few internal bug fixes and improvements."
