Setting up online connection does not offer me list of accounts

Quicken Windows Subscription Member ✭✭
When setting up an online connection, I am not offered a list of banks to choose from. Instead, it is assuming that the account is a bank of america account. It used to be this at one time but the bank has changed for the account. So I have disconnected the online services but now need to reconnect it. To do that I need to be able to choose the proper bank name and unfortunately I am not being given that option now.

Ideas?

Thanks.

    huh ?
Click on the Add Account or the "+" at the top of the Account List --> and type the name of your bank.
What bank do you want ?

The account is already created, with many transactions in it already. I just need to connect it to its proper bank instead of it's old bank. Its already been disconnected from online services. So reconnecting it should give me the option to select the bank but it's not doing that.

    Thanks.

    Hi @WhyBother2,

It is operating correctly. Close the Register, because the Register will always point to Bank of America.
    Don't delete the Register.

After you close the register, you need to create a new Register for the Account at the new Bank. The Account Number has also changed?

If I create a new register then I lose the contiguous history of the account which is what I'm trying to avoid. You're saying that you cannot delete the connection between a register and a bank?

If you would like to use the existing account register and the register is of the correct account type, I suggest you deactivate the Online Services associated with the register and clear the name of the financial institution on the General tab: https://www.quicken.com/support/deactivate-online-banking-services-quicken-account  When you subsequently set up the Online Services, you should be able to specify the appropriate financial institution's name and link the accoun at the financial institution to the existing account register.

@Sherlock - that's exactly what I thought should happen. Online services is deactivated. The general tab is cleared of data but I am unable to remove the name of the name of the institution for some reason:

That is strange.  My experience has been that we are able to clear the financial institution's name when the Online Services are deactivated.

A workaround would be to create a new credit card account register and move the transactions from the original register to the new register, reset the references to the original register in the memorized payees and reminders, and delete the original register.  You may want to review: FAQ: How Do I Move Transactions Between Quicken Accounts?

Yeah, it is weird that it's not clearing the bank name which is why I opened the topic. Not sure if that's a new restriction in the latest versions...

So - your CC was held at BOA - but where is the CC now being held ?
What is the new bank name ?

Hi @Ps56k2 - does it matter where the new account is held? I should be seeing the dialog to choose a new bank regardless of where it's held, right? Theoretically Quicken shouldn't have any idea what the account is linked to yet because I've removed all links. But somehow it's retaining knowledge of the BOA link even after the link is supposedly broken between the register and the bank.

just curious - to look it up and see what protocols it offers for downloading transactions.
