Importing transactions come with bad date format for Australian accounts causing errors

I have Quicken Home, Business & Rental Property in Australia. When I import bank transaction from local bank, it puts transaction in with wrong dates even showing transactions for early 1900's. I seem to only be able QIF download from bank for Quicken Aus pre-2014.

This isn't exactly correct. The Windows short format is used in the way Quicken US presents the dates in Quicken, but it doesn't control the format that is accepted during a QIF import. The QIF import is always in the US date format of MM/DD/YYYY.
Note that you can use ImportQIF which is a free program to change the date format so that it is acceptable by Quicken Windows US. You can find it at my website: http://www.quicknperlwiz.com/

On that understanding, you likely need to change your Windows short form date to that format (which should change the Quicken presentation), then import the QIF file, then change the Windows setting back to your desired format.
But also, Quicken Australia (and NZ) has long been independent of both Quicken, Inc (current) and its predecessor Intuit. I think Reckon has been the responsible party for that program for at least 15 years, maybe 20. As such, even different rules may apply. So proceed cautiously and with good backups available.0 -

Hmmm. I thought that was what I said. But maybe it wasn't.
The QIF file "reader" (import) in the program reads the dates as if they are MM/DD/YYYY. Thus the third party QIF "writer" needs to put them out in that form. If the 'writer' uses a different form, the user can use Chris's ImportQIF program to change the date formats to the US standard.
Where I suspect I was off base -- If the QIF file is written using US standard format, there is no problem and no need to change anything. If the QIF file is written with any different date formatting, that file needs to be changed. In that case, changing the Windows setting will not bypass the problem as I suggested. Chris's program or similar is needed.
(While I appreciate the thought, I am taking off the acceptance of my prior post and showing Chris's as being the 'right' answer.)

Sorry @q_lurker it sounds like I just misread your answer when you mentioned changing the Windows short date I thought you implied that would change what the Quicken US QIF importing would take for the date format. It changes almost all the date formats in Quicken, but not the QIF import date format.Signature:
