Convert QM2002 files (OSX) to QM Stater in Mojave

I've got my Quicken 2002 on an old hemisphere iMac dual-boot to OS9.2 or OSX. I've purchased a subscription to Quicken for Mac Starter on my MacBook Pro running Mojave (which I will eventually upgrade to Big Sur). I've copied two versions of my QM2002 data files onto a flash drive (one has no suffix and is 7.2MB, the other is a .qif file of 2.6MB) and tried to open them in QM Starter. I get an error message for each of them saying: "cannot open, data file is missing". What can I do to fix this? I'm really only interested in the check registers for one account with the related categories and the reconcile function.

I believe that you waited too long to upgrade to Quicken Mac Starter from Quicken Mac 2002.

"Quicken for Mac products older than 2007 are not supported for conversion; however, if you have a data file from an older version of Quicken for Mac, you can attempt to update to the latest Mac version.  "

There is no direct way to import data as old as Quicken 2002 into the modern Quicken Mac.

Quicken Mac can only import files from Quicken 2007. You will need to obtain Quicken 2005 (or possibly 2006), to update from Quicken 2002, and then upgrade to Quicken 2007, and then import into Quicken Mac.

The files you copied on the flash drive may or may not work. If the flash drive was not formatted as HFS+, the files likely are missing a hidden component which will make them unusable.
