I cannot create a subcategory, the dropdown is greyed out

When I try to add a category, I cannot assign it as a subcategory as the subcategory dropdown box is greyed out.

Quicken version is Personal Plus 2007 R 1

    Are you using the Australian version of Quicken?
    If so, none of us Quicken US version users will be able to help. We can only guess ...
    Does a category with that same name already exist, perhaps as a main category, perhaps as one that's marked "hidden"?
    If you can, create a screenshot of the situation and drag and drop the resulting image file (PNG, JPG or GIF only) into the Leave a Comment text box of your reply.
