I no longer need Business and Rental, can I subscribe to a lower cost version? If so, is the business data lost forever?

The answer is generally "Yes", sorta.

I have to disagree with @Tom Young here.On a downgrade, the business data is NEVER lost, all of your business accounts become just regular Q asset and liability accounts.BUT, the special business screens and reports would no longer be available. You have to use regular Q reports and registers to access the business data. Also, I didn't see, in Tom's link, where the particular topic is discussed. I saw the "downloads" header ... but nothing pertinent to data loss was found under that header.
