LPL Download, then exit data file? Then open. Then continue?

After I download transactions from LPL website, why do I have to exit Quicken before I can perform a one-step update TO DOWNLOAD OTHER TRANSACTIONS from investment accounts and some credit cards. Why does this happen?

    Before I can further assist you, I require some more information. Do you leave your Quicken Application open all of the time instead of closing it after you are done working?
