One investment / brokerage account with multiple non-tracked items
peterelson
I want to have one investment / brokerage account which records purchases and sales within that account, but does not track them by market value - they are notes etc. - but only by the original dollar value per unit - ie always a quantity of 1. Sort of like a spread sheet where I can enter the price of purchases and sales within the same account and track the balance and what it's comprised of, but nothing more. Will be grateful for suggestions as to if it can and done, and if so, the best way to do it.

You could create an off-line brokerage account and set up each item as a separate "Security". Then you would buy 1 share of each security at whatever its price is.
As an added bonus, you can adjust the prices over time or buy more if you want.
