Are Dat files necessary

I have a lot of these files on computer (windows) Are they necessary for Quicken to operate properly

  Yes and no.  You can delete them, but Quicken will just create them again, so it will be a never ending battle.

  There is an existing Idea to move the .DAT files out of the data directory and into the application data area, where they belong. Vote here:
