slow download of transactions Why??

A while back Quicken changed its connections to download transactions from Chase. Since then, the process is considerably slower. Now I've just reauthorized AmEx accounts and the download process is even slower! What's going on please??

    You got it backwards.  Chase changed the download method.

    I didn't suggest who initiated it, only that it was slower, and I still would like to know why. Same for amex.

    Your 1st  sentence stated precisely "Quicken changed".  EWC is simply slower than Direct Connect

    Quicken Inc's claim that Express Web Connect + is faster, at least so far, has proven to be false.

    I think they believed "caching" and "doing multiple accounts in parallel" would have sped things up, but that hasn't happened, at least not for the initial update of the day.

    I'm going to guess that all the EWC+ code has been compiled in debug mode while they make sure it works. Perhaps after a shakeout period, they'll recompile in optimized mode - both on the Quicken side and the banks' side. I don't know whether that would account for the obvious slowdown, though.

    Quicken user since version 2 for DOS, as of 2025 using QWin Premier (US) on Win10 Pro & Win11 Pro on 2 PCs.

    From what I can tell from the cloud logs and such, most of the slowdown is on the server side, not in Quicken itself.
