Wells Fargo Not Connecting to Quicken
Just got a new Wells Fargo credit card and get an error message when I try to connect it to Quicken for auto downloads. Anyone else having this issue. FYI - I have no trouble logging into either Wells Fargo or Quicken so am sure the issue is the linking of the two.

What connection method are you using? There's an existing thread where other people have been having problems using Quicken Connect with Wells Fargo for several days now. If it's DIrect Connect, banks sometimes take things offline on weekends for various reasons (maintenance or backups), try again later today.

@NancyT - There is also an Alert posted about this WF connection issue: NEW 4/7/23 Wells Fargo - Quicken couldn't find any accounts to add (Various Error Codes). If this sounds like it is the issue you are experiencing they you can bookmark it so you are kept informed when updates to it are posted. To bookmark it:

I am getting an error when trying to update accounts from Wells Fargo. on MAC. Error says site is down and to try again later. This has been going on more than 24 hours already.

I continue to get this same error with Wells Fargo. Does anyone know if it is being addressed?

The posted Alert referenced above says it is being addressed. That's all we have to go on at this point.
This Alert was posted last Friday and nothing much happens over weekends (especially when it is a holiday). It is now Monday morning so hopefully we will be an update to this Alert sometime today or maybe tomorrow.
From a QWin user's observation:
- EWC (QWin's equilent to Quicken Connect): Worked properly for me this morning for both checking and credit card accounts.
- DC: QWin shows in the One Step Update Summary report that my credit card updated properly but my checking account updated but the last download occurred on 4/7. In a unique test file, I got the same results for both credit card and checking accounts.
If QMac users are getting these same type of results it's a pretty good indication that WF is having some sort of issue with their server(s) that manage the DC connections and that it is most likely not a Quicken/Intuit issue with EWC/Quicken Connect.

I still can't connect to Wells. Quicken support person says they are working on it1

I also had problems for past several days connecting to any Wells Fargo accounts, beginning 4/8/23 and continuing until today 4/10. The only workaround that I found is to disable 2-Step Authentication (MFA) and then the accounts wobble but connect. If you are to do this, I suggest immediately reinstating 2-Step Auth after you've successfully downloaded transactions for security.
Note to Quicken: this is an unacceptable disruption in standard operations for which you've not alerted users nor have you 'admitted' to a problem or provided any timeline on resolution. Not good and over 72 hours but still no fix? The fact that your community has to answer questions and help others should be major professional embarassment.

Hey BigJon, how do you turn off MFA? Is that in Quicken or on your WF account?

I tried disabling 2-step verification but that did not help, I never had issue with that before because my quicken home and business would have a pop up just for that, but that is no longer showing up. I guess it's back to the old download statement and input manually, which is a big hassel and time suck. Unfortunately I have to do this for my Sound Credit Union because their statements have a bunch of [Edited - Language] before the actual payee name, so I have to manually correct each time I download, just another [Edited-Profanity] tech problem that nobody can resolve.

The problem is with the Quicken Connect as oposed to the Direct Connect download relationships. [Removed-Speculation] I worked with Wells Fargo and, with my two checking accounts, we had to break the Quicken Connect relationship and establish a Direct Connect relationship for the Wells Fargo accounts.

yes!!! I used direct connect instead of quicken connect. Problem solved! Thank you so much👍

Weighing in…same issue here for several days at least with WF.

Yes, the Direct Connect fixed this problem. Thanks to the Quicken community for a resolution to this problem. [Removed - Rant]

Just solved it this morning using Direct Connect. I reached a different support person at Wells (I had called a couple of times previously) who had me reestablish my identity, which helped fix the problem. The other Wells people did not do this, so getting a more knowledgeable support person helps!0

how do I get to direct connect?

Isn't there a charge from Wells Fargo for Direct Connect?

No charge as far as I can see.

Turning off 2 step verification on WF website worked for me. Not a good option, but easier than downloading/importing.

WF used to charge a monthly fee for DC but they eliminated that fee about 2-1/2 years ago. Here is the link to where WF confirms there no longer is a monthly fee for DC:

Switching to Direct Connect worked for me. Thanks to all of you for sharing what you learned.

Update: Direct Connect appears to be working with Wells Fargo, with 2-step verification enabled via Wells Fargo.
To answer question, MFA (2-step verification) is adjusted through the controls on the Wells Fargo website. Use your credentials on wf.com to log-in and under "Security and Support" there is a link for "2-step verification". Use that to select "Off".
Kindly note that I highly recommend that MFA/2-step verification be turned in all situations that involve personally identifiable information like financial info, health records, etc. My suggestion to disable MFA was/is only for a temporary workaround and that it be employed only for a brief moment to let Quicken download transactions… then quickly turn MFA back on. If Direct Connect via Quicken does work, that is a more secure solution and recommend keeping 2-step verification enabled.

I spoke with Wells Fargo and was told this is a Quicken problem. Does Quicken agree, and are they working on it?

I'd talk to someone else at Wells. It took me 3 calls. When I talked to Kevin at Wells, he had me go to
wellsfargo.com/fmssetup to confirm my Wells identity. Once I did that it was easy to set up via Direct Connect.
Hope that helps.2 -

Thanks. I would always keep it on, but there's a lot of reconciliation coming for me in the next week or so and would love to have Quicken do it for me. I may do as you suggested!0 -

It looks like they've known about this since last week: https://community.quicken.com/discussion/7932994/new-4-7-23-wells-fargo-quicken-couldnt-find-any-accounts-to-add-various-error-codes#latest0 -
Been going on for over a week for me. I am, however, able to download the transactions through the WF web site.0

Thanks Jack K. I followed your link, reset my identity, and changed to Direct Connect. Back to normal!
