American Express Won't Download if classified as a Business account in Quicken
Several months ago American Express stopped downloading transactions even though it says it connected successfully. After a lot of work, I have diagnosed the issue.
Steps to recreate:
1 - Created a new quicken file with only 1 account, my Amex card
2 - Add account and sign into Amex website and give permission
3 - Classify the account in quicken as a "Business" account, which it is.
If I classify it as a "Business" account, it only creates 1 entry which is the current statement balance.
4 - Delete that account
5 - Create a new account and once again sign into Amex and give permission to the same card (I only have the one)
5 - Classify the account in quicken as "Personal". This time in downloads the last 12 months of transactions.
Typical Questions:
I'm on the latest version of Quicken Business and Personal (R54.9)
I'm running Windows 11 Home 22H2
I have used Quicken for over 20 years.
I have called quicken support twice on this issue and done everything they asked with no fix

This is great feedback, I switched my Amex account from business to personal and I am now able to download transactions.
@Quicken Jasmine , please post this workaround in your post below. There hasn't been an update on that post since November of 2023.

@tools - I'm glad this worked for you. However, I want to be clear to the Quicken folks that I do not consider this an acceptable work around. I use my Amex for purely business purposes to avoid "Comingling of Funds" that can get you in trouble with the IRS. I need to keep this classified as a "Business" account. For now, I will have to continue to manually download the transaction from the Amex website and manually import them into Quicken
