R57.26 Update Available Message Issue
I finally updated Quicken to R57.26 via the Mondo Patch web site. I never install updates via within Quicken. Installation was completed (see 1st screenshot). Quicken runs and shows R57.26 as the current version.
When opening Quicken and checking under help, to see if any updates are available the messages says R27.26 is available (see screenshot 2). This message is a bug as the update is already installed.
How does one clear this message?

I suspect that the only way you are going to clear that message is if you select Yes.

I learned my lesson long ago not to update from within Quicken…. Quicken should fix the bug…. Will let it ride until the next update to see what gives then….

In a perfect world all the bugs would be fixed. In this one I doubt it would get any kind of priority.

UPDATE: Now when starting Quicken there is a message Quicken wants to update my Windows. I declined. Quicken finished loading.
Decided to go (against my best judgement) to help and click on check for updates. It says a newer version is available as seen before. Clicked to update and it started reinstalling R57.26 again and crashed. Quicken no longer will open. I uninstalled Quicken and tried to re-install and got an Quicken error message and install stopped mid stream.
QUICKEN NOW WILL NOT INSTALL AT ALL.
Tech Support no help….
Days like this is exactly why I have 2 computers for redundance…

If OneDrive is active, pause it before trying the Quicken install.

Try doing a "clean uninstall". First uninstall Quicken and then delete the following folders.
"C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Quicken"
"C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Quicken"
"C:\ProgramData\Quicken"
Reboot the machine just in case.
And try installing.

@Chris_QPW thanks for the suggestions however the error message I kept getting seemed to be not related to your procedure. Just your suggestion was more than I got from QuickenTech Support. Here is the message that accompanied the new install failing numerous times. Strange it said Quicken 2019 also as the Install version was from the link posted on .
After numerous attempts to get Quicken to install I went to PlanB. I was able to restore my whole computer back to 7-20-2024 and spent hours checking all my software and all their updates since 7-20-2024. Quicken runs perfectly and it was running version 57.16 (version I was running prior to the R57.26 update mess). Do I want to attempt an update to 57.16 again or wait? I am certainly glad I use the following Windows function faithfully.

I don't know why you would get such an error. Maybe anti-virus software preventing the install from creating that folder/file???
One thought I had after I gave you the above procedure was that it might be a good idea to clean out the Windows temporary files folder.
But if I was you, I would probably just leave things be. If installing the manual patch is working for you I would just block/ignore any mention of doing it automatically.

Now that I'm back running I googled Quicken FIDIR.TXT and googles results date back at least to 2003.

That doesn't indicate any kind of error, unless you have gone into the thread and read that it is an error. FIDIR.TXT is the file Quicken downloads from Intuit to decide how to contact the financial institutions and what connection methods to use. It is going to be mentioned extensively in different threads. I do believe I have seen the problem you are having in some threads, but it seems very rare.

Yes, from some of the googled results a few that I did read say it is rare and also some state the resolve for this issue may require trying to install Quicken several times until successful.
Turning off all my anti-virus made no difference. That was the only suggestion Tech Support offered but I had already tried that. There next statement was that it is a Microsoft problem and to call them.
I may try updating to R57.26 from within Quicken this time. I will create a Restore Point first so if it fails I can restore back to the same day so everything is still up to date except Quicken.
IF I do try again I'll report back…… THX

Don't forget to check Windows firewall. If the program QWPatch.exe is blocked, fidir.txt will not get updated. You would think that the install version would be installed though, unless of course you did not follow @Chris_QPW instructions for the clean install.
That file is in one of the folders listed and if it was somehow corrupted, it might not get overwritten during an install. Another culprit could be something like Windows Controlled Folder Access where the folder containing fidir.txt is in the protected list.

@markus1957 I don't think the FIDIR.TXT file is corrupted and is up to date today as an OSU completed this morning and if I try to add an account to my FI's the FI is listed in the choices.
If I do try to update to R57.26 today I will be leaving all anti-virus activated. I have never ever had to turn it off (exposing my computers to possible viruses and malware) to install any software nor Quicken on any computer. Over the past few years my anti-virus software has identified a few times that a Q update wasn't safe.
Will report back if I try again…. THX

For what it is worth, I believe the times where the anti-virus software has identified the Quicken install as been unsafe, it has been either the anti-virus software giving a "false positive" or because Quicken Inc didn't sign the install properly.

Yep both are likely possibilities but not the only possibility. Turning off anti-virus and malware software is not what I would recommend (even though I did it once as stated above).
Just finished installing Quicken update R57.26 about five minutes ago (at about 2:55 pm CST)…… results:
Hopefully will have same result on computer number 2 with no hickups….. 😊

For what it is worth I just use Windows Defender and have never had to turn it off to install Quicken.

For many years I have used Norton Security 360 (10 Device License - PCs, Macs, tablets and cell phones). It has numerous capabilities that one may want to use in this day and time. Device Security, Software Updater, Dark web monitoring, Cloud Backup, Secure VPN, Privacy Monitor, Password Manager, Parental Controls, and more. Each of these features have sub-options too many to list here.
