Windows 11 - Other programs very slow with Quicken running in the background?
I'm looking for advice on how to best capture metrics on what's going on with my system when it gets slow with Quicken running in the background.
I have what should be a fast system for general use, so I was stumped as to why Windows seemed to be getting very laggy recently - like, "something's definitely wrong here; do I have malware or a problem with my new graphics card?" laggy - I couldn't move windows around on my screen, open new windows, etc., without extreme (e.g., a few seconds per mouse movement) delays. I finally made the connection that the slowness only happens with Quicken open. While the obvious "fix" is to not run Quicken in the background, I can't help but wonder what's changed recently or how to collect objective metrics to help improve future updates.
While I can't pinpoint exactly when the problem started, I probably started noticing around Feb 6, 2025, after installing a new graphics card, expecting performance across-the-board to be improved.
Per Task Manager / Perf Monitor, there's not much in the way of CPU/RAM use during the slowness, but what activity there is seems related to System and/or System interrupts.
It does seem to get worse the more I use Quicken, so maybe there's an issue with Quicken releasing system resources?
I'm currently running Classic Premier R61.17 Build 27.1.61.17 with Windows 11 Pro (although Quicken shows Windows 11 Enterprise).
