John Deere Financial Revolving Credit.

I occasionally use my John Deere Credit Card (JD) for purchases from John Deere. Years ago they had a file (QIF?) that could be downloaded and imported into my Quicken. There was no direct connection. Then they removed that option, leaving me to manually enter transactions.

A couple of days ago I decided to try adding my JD account for online use. Surprise!!! It was going through. BUT BUT BUT it comes up as a Loan, not a credit card.

I see that someone else had the same problem/question July. A screen shot was asked for but perhaps not given. The discussion was closed unanswered.

They asked if this was a Quicken or John Deere issue. So I will ask the question again. Can this be converted into a Credit Card account? Is this controlled by JD or by Quicken?

When you ask for screen shots, please explain exactly what screen shots you are requesting. There really is nothing special to see. Quicken adds aa NEW account and does not allow this "new" account to be connected to my existing JD Credit Card. It creates a "normal" Loan type account with the current Balance info from the Credit Card account.

Also every time a One Step Update is run, JD/Quicken requires 2 factor identification, by sending a code to my cell phone to be entered in Quicken. Annoying enough to not want to use updates.

    Hello @Mark Beckstrom,

Thank you for sharing your experience. While you can choose the account type when creating manual accounts, when you connect an account to download from a financial institution automatically, the account type comes from the financial institution.

When you are adding the account, you can usually see the account type, as it's coming from the financial institution on the Add/Link screen.

If the account is created as a Loan account, there is no option to change the account type to Credit Card.

When you saw the option to connect to John Deere Credit Card, did you connect the account as a new account, or were you able to link it to the existing account that you'd been updating manually?

I look forward to your response!
