Quicken crashed during validate

Per earlier reports today submitted to Quicken via "Report a Problem", I had been unable to download transactions for Best Buy CC for a while. Attempts to reconnect Quicken with Citibank for Best Buy CC would seem to succeed on Citibank side, but Quicken would complain about a time-out. After submitting those reports, I did a File Copy (all transactions) to a new file. Opening the new file, I was able to connect it to Citibank and download the Best Buy transactions. Because of the File>Copy used, I would need to reconnect ALL of my dozens of banks to this new file. Before starting that process, I looked at the header in the register, and the date of last update was not displayed. It does not display on almost all accounts (there's just one or two which do show the date of last update in this file). Thinking a validate might fix this I attempted a validate, which seemed to run close to completion, when Quicken crashed.

Returning to my previous file for now…

    Hello @Bob@45,

Thanks for reaching out, I am so sorry to hear about the frustration this issue has been causing.

First, could you please clarify where you keep your files located (hard drive, flash drive, online drive, etc.)?

    Let me know!

My files are kept on my SSD C drive: C:\Users\rmens\Documents\Quicken

Update: This morning before doing my usual OSU, I did a windows backup of my file (data going back to 2009), then did a validate. It claims to have fixed a number of problem, and found some erroneous transactions suggesting I delete and recreate them. Those were not affecting the BB card, so I ignored it temporarily. I exited Quicken and did another windows backup of the file, and then did a super-validate. It found no issues. I then exited and did another backup. I then did an Add account specific to Best Buy, and I was able to load the transactions that had been missing.

Part of the issue may have been: A while back (2023?) Citibank/BestBuy issued a second credit card, Visa, in addition to the original in-store card. I only use the new card, and all my activity is currently logged under the new card's account. Most of my previous attempts to download were for the one active card, checking that card only on the Citibank connection webpage rather than both cards.

This morning I checked both cards, plus the "and any new best buy cards that may be issued in the future" option.

It confirmed whether I wanted to add/link the two accounts. I linked the one I use, and allowed it to add the other as a new account. The new transactions downloaded fine for the active account. The other account ended up with a number of obsolete transactions, a number of $0 transactions, and a few that it wrongly matched to other transactions. Took me about 20 minutes to clean up the last and then I deleted all the rest.

Except for the fact that I don't get any "most recent download" date/time displayed for any of my accounts, I think I've resolved my download issues for now.

Thanks for providing more information. I am happy to hear that your issues are mostly resolved. Would you like to attempt troubleshooting for the date/time issue?

    Let me know!

I think that's resolved too. I deleted the runtime.dat file for that Quicken file, and I have dates & times of downloads again.
