The Bills and income > Projected balances screen doesn't handle credit cards.

If there were a field for each credit card for the billing cutoff date and payment due date, credit cards could be added to the projected balances screen (as negative numbers) with markers for the cutoff and payment due dates. Automatic and scheduled payments would reflect on the "paid from" and "paid to" accounts on the line graph.

Think of it this way - If Quicken knew what the card payment due amount was (based on the billing cutoff date), it could automatically create a reminder transaction to pay the card X days before the due date.

The way I handle estimated and actual credit card payments is in two steps. I have a Reminder for each credit card, with the payment due date set a few days before the actual due date. The Reminder is set to use the last 3 months' payments as the estimate. Since the credit card usage is reasonably constant from month to month, that is a pretty good estimate of the amount that will be due. Then after the billing period closes and I get the notification of the actual amount due, I enter the Reminder with the amount due. This makes the Projected Balances graph reflect the actual amount I will be paying.

Not that I trust it, but this exactly what Online Bills does when linked to a reminder.

It adjusts the reminder's date and amount when the statement comes in. The payment amount can be either the minimum due or the statement balance.

Note that I find the statement "The Bills and income > Projected balances screen doesn't handle credit cards." a bit misleading. It would be the reminder that needs to get the suggested enhancement, not the Projected balance screen.

And for the people like me that don't trust the online bills system, I would find that useful.

My real point is that the projected balances screen has a nice graph of the current balances of positive cash accounts. What I'm looking for is an addition to the graph that shows the balance of credit accounts, including scheduled credit card transactions. A flag showing cutoff and payment due dates would help with scheduling payments, all from that same graph.

As a quicker fix, how about a card on the home screen that just shows the current balance of selected accounts?

Ok, I just discovered that the accounts column will show balances. A card on the home page would still be nice for showing only selected accounts. How about the ability to create our own cards?

Kristina just showed me how to create what I am looking for using a custom view on the home page. I think this request can be closed.
