prior balance changed

I've had this problem before. It's nothing I've changed or undone in the register. This is a bug. If I change the prior balance it adds the difference as a negative in the account. I don't want to go back 2 months and start again. This is not the first time. Quicken needs to fix this.

What type of account is it that you set up in Quicken? Checking/Savings account?

What is the exact process you are using to update the prior balance? Please provide details of the step(s) you take to do that.

Also, are you downloading transactions into the account or do you manage the account manually?

Are you referring to the prior reconciliation ending balance? If so, why would that need to be adjusted since it is a reconciled balance?

And, exactly which "prior balance" are you changing? If during a reconciliation, that figure is the sum of all transactions in the account that have an "R" in the clr field. Changing that figure will, by design & intent, cause Placeholders (what you call "adds the difference") to be placed in the account.

SO, why are you changing it? What are you trying to remedy?
