Enable Automatic Scheduled Updates (BAGENT.EXE) to handle multiple Quicken Data Files

Continuing on my discussion from 2023 (see below), I suggest that Intuit enable the ability for the "Quicken Background Agent From Quicken For Windows" (baagent.exe) to enable unattended updating for multiple Quicken Data Files.

Why this is needed:

As more data is stored, Quicken can slow down. My workaround was to separate Investments into a different QDF file than where Banking and Credit Card Transactions are saved. This significantly speeds up the one-step updates and keeps my investments separate from banking transactions.

Because the Scheduled Updates can only work with the last account configured for updates, only one Quicken Data File gets updated. So for example if you go on vacation and leave your computer on, only one of your Quicken accounts is updated. Then you have to manually run a one step update for every other Quicken file.

So it is both practical and a big timesaver for those of us who want scheduled updates to occur for multiple data files.

Quicken could implement this using command line arguments or better still, enable the ability to use the Tools>Schedule Updates to stick with the file where the schedule is configured.

Vote if you think this is a good idea! Perhaps someone at Quicken will notice this too!

I don't use Scheduled updates, but I can see how this would be useful for those who do.

Probably the cleanest way to implement this would be to modify the Schedule updates dialog so you can specify multiple files to update and the bagent program to update the specified list of files.

    @Jim_Harman

Quoting you from that other thread
"Just to be clear, Scheduled Updates is the ability to have Quicken run a One Step Update on a schedule even if Quicken is not running. I don't think many people use this."

Au Contraire. I use Scheduled Updates 6 days a week, Monday thru Saturday, at 7am. That way, after breakfast, all financial activity from the night before is sitting in my Q awaiting my review.

To me, Scheduled Updates may be the most valuable part of downloads into Q.

Ok, we'll see how many votes this Idea gets.

It takes about 50 votes for an Idea to be considered for implementation.

I finally voted for this idea. There was some initial hesitation, because while I think it's a good idea, it won't be of much benefit to me.

Besides my "test" files, I only have 2 Q data files that I currently use, "Production" and a club where I'm treasurer.

The activity in the club file is so infrequent (1 or 2 transactions a month) that Scheduled Update would be of only trivial benefit.

BUT, I can easily see how others, with more active second/third/etc files, could find this very useful.
