How to create a account balances report for both tax and tax deferred investments.
Quicken does not seem to have a way to create one report that shows account balances for taxable and tax deferred accounts. You have to create multiple reports by manually selecting accounts based on taxable status. I believe it would be of value to create one report that shows networth and/or account balances with a further breakout of investments by tax-deferred status.

Reports / Net Worth & Balances / either Account Balances or Net Worth. Customize / Accounts Tab for accounts you want in Report including both taxable and tax-deferred as you may desire.

I concur with @q_lurker. My wife and I each have a taxable investment account, and several retirement accounts each, at Fidelity Investments … and our Net Worth report shows the balance for all of them.
@Jonathan why are you unable to select ALL TYPES of investment accounts for your reports … have you clicked the Gear icon (if you're looking at an already created report) or the Accounts tab (in the Customize report dialog) and simply chosen all accounts you want to include.
Also, are you using Q's built-in "Account Balances" report or something else?

I may be wrong but I think the question is about the ability to show investment account balances by tax status (i.e. "Taxable Investments" and "Tax Deferred Investments" instead of just "Investments")

This would be like the breakdown on the Account Bar "Brokerage" and Retirement" or a report with a subtotal subtotal by account type or intent.
This is similar many requests over the years to support user definable account groups - His and Hers, group by FI, or here by tax status

@CaliQkn Well, the title of the thread says "investments", but the 1st sentence says accounts.
Since tax-free investments can be held in taxable accounts, say muni bonds, I think that the OP needs to be more specific about what they're looking for and why they're not able do that now.

@Jim_Harman in regard to Jonathan's comment/question then, it sounds like there isn't a way currently to separate taxable and non-taxable investment balances. Do you know if there is an active report or product enhancement request for user defined account groups? I did a quick search and I couldn't find one.
@Jonathan - maybe you can submit a product idea or enhancement request?

This Idea has been active since 2019. It still needs about 20 more votes before it will be considered for implementation.

Thanks @Jim_Harman I added my vote so now there's 31.
@Jonathan - take a look at the thread in Jim's comment and add your vote if you like. The more the better. (Go to the top of page 1, and then click the vote button)
