Need to Update Basic User 2003
Somewhere along the line Quicken Basic 2003 was an option and that is what I have been using for the last upteen years. Program is asking screwy. when reconciling it has different date and amount, seems to be not backing up. I need to update to something that I can bring in new from my backup data without losing all past info. Is there a Quicken Program or something else recommended that will import Quicken. This is used from home check book accounts and savings only, I don't need anything fancy!

@Brenyot it sounds like either Quicken Simplifi or Quicken Starter would work well for your needs. Here are links to more information on each product -
Quicken Simplifi is a web based financial management software package that probably has more than you need but it is straight foward and easy to use.
Quicken Starter is a streamlined Windows desktop financial software package that gives you just what you need.

Seeing how you tend to not like keeping your Quicken up-to-date, Starter Edition is not a good choice for you. At the end of your first year, if you do not renew your subscription, Starter Edition goes into READ ONLY mode and will only work as a report generator for you. Deluxe and above will continue to operate in a manual mode with some loss of screen real estate for a thin banner near the top of the screen and a panel (about the size of the Account Bar) on one side of the screen urging you to renew your subscription.

This used to be the case but somewhere between the end of last year and Q1 of this year this was changed so that some limited manual functionality continues when the subscription expires and is not renewed:

You can get a non subscription version of Q2013 for free from this conversion instructions article. Don’t pay for a subscription version you don’t need.

News to me. Definitely not READ ONLY, but painfully unusable with that message popping up every time you try to add or change something.

It certainly was news to me when I first found out about it this past April and posted about it in the Lounge. Those those resubscribe banners are a PIA, regardless of which subscription edition is involved. And I agree that "Membership Expired" popups will also be a PIA but for some Starter users they will like not needing to resubscribe as long as they do not need to create a new account, a new budget or a new Reminder.
I do agree with @mshiggins that for @Brenyot the free 2013 Quicken Deluxe might be the best option for them at this time. Even if they really want to upgrade to Subscription they will first need to upgrade to the 2013 Quicken Deluxe as part of the upgrade process. So that will give them the opportunity to try out 2013 Quicken Deluxe first to see if they might want to stick with that instead of upgrading further to Subscription.
(EDIT: Corrected the free version from 2010 Quicken Deluxe to 2013 Quicken Deluxe.)

@Boatnmaniac should "2010" be "2013"?

Yikes! Thanks for the catch. I've corrected my earlier post.

@Boatnmaniac did you miss one of the 2010 references?

@Boatnmaniac I hesitated at first to say anything because I knew you have your hands full with helping with Fidelity. Hopefully it will all be resolved soon. I know from experience that conversions are never easy and no matter how much you prepare there's always going to be issues.

Yeah, that Fidelity EWC+ migration has been a messy and time consuming thing. And not just in Community but with the Quicken Development Team and a lot of testing and reporting.
Normally, it wouldn't be such an issue for me but I'm also in the final stages of prepping for a cross-country move (from TX to MN). The movers will be here on Friday and we still have a lot of loose ends to take care of before they get here. Then next week we get to start unpacking and setting up in our new digs. At least I'll get a reprieve for a few days between when the movers load and when they deliver. 20 yrs ago this wouldn't be taking this much of a toll on me…heck, even 10 yrs ago it would have been easier to handle.

@Boatnmaniac too funny. Yesterday was our one year anniversary moving from MN to CA. I can clearly remember driving 4 days through 8 states, with two cats in the back seat who never been in the car except to go to the vet.

I used to have two dogs who hated driving in the car because generally the only time they were in the car was to go to the vet and they clearly didn't like the vet. (I think it was all the other animal smells and noises that scared them more than the vet.) I can't imagine what it would be like to drive them across the country for 4 days!
