Quicken wants to rename different CD's from the same bank to one name after connection method change
Hello All:
I haven't seen this specific question on the site, but if it's out there, please direct me to the proper conversation with my thanks in advance.
My setup: Quicken Deluxe for Windows, V63.21, Windows 11
My issue: I hold 2 CD's in a Merrill IRA from the same bank with different rates & maturity dates. The "old" name on both included the bank name, rate & maturity date which is how they are listed in my Security list and made for easily differentiating them. Since Merrill's change in connection method; following a One Step Update, Quicken wants to rename one of the CD's to a shorten name (the bank name only) without the rate & maturity date info. Not knowing what Quicken will do, I've been rejecting the name change
So far, Quicken has only asked to rename 1 of the 2 CD's. I presume if I accept this name change, Quicken will next ask to rename the 2nd CD to the same, shorten bank only name; which I don't want because I won't be able to easily differentiate them without getting into security details every time.
Can someone tell me what Quicken is doing here, and more importantly: what I'll end up with if I accept this name change.
Thanks for your help with this question.

@Sheadpast I've never heard of this happening. What happens if you accept the name change and then go back and rename the CD to what you had before?
Before you try this, make a back up of your data file, just in case.

Hello All:
Thank you for replying.
To CaliQkn: I have not tried any renaming activity yet. I was hoping someone on the forum may have experienced this issue and could provide insight/instruction on how to handle this situation before I started changing records.
To Quicken Jasmine: Please leave this post open awhile longer. Based on the activity I see on other posts, I'm surprised no one else has advice on this issue. Makes me think it's a rare situation that will eventually need an answer from Quicken.
