I have just been informed by TDECU that Quicken will no longer be able to download my transactions from my TDECU accounts because they are implementing more security. PLEASE, PLEASE contact them and any similar institutions and figure out a way to create a secure connection that they will allow.

I am 80 years old and have been downloading from TDECU since this was FIRST AVAILABLE in Quicken. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

I somewhat suspect that TDECU is BSing you … and that in reality they're dropping Q because TDECU no longer wants to pay the licensing fee OR to maintain the servers for Q connectivity.

"Vote with your feet". Close the accounts and tell TDECU why.

Looking at the current download options for TDECU I see they support Express Web Connect and Web Connect.

I can certainly see how they would consider it unsafe since your username and password would be saved on the Intuit server (Quicken Inc uses Intuit as their aggregator).

Web Connect on the other hand is you going to their website and downloading a Web Connect/QFX file and importing that into Quicken. That would be totally secure, so hopefully they won't drop that, and you can use it.

The other two options for downloading transactions are Direct Connect and Express Web Connect +. Both of these are secure, but I doubt that TDECU will implement them. Both require that the financial institution maintain processes on their machine, and I doubt TDECU has a big enough Quicken customer base for them to believe that it will be worth it to them. And note also as @NotACPA stated I believe Intuit is charging some kind of fee to the financial institution to support Direct Connect (but not Express Web Connect +).

Ultimately though it is the financial institution that chooses what to support, not Quicken Inc.
