Downloading AMEX Issues

I'm unsure why this is occurring, but recently there has been issue downloading transactions from AMEX. For example, today the connection between AMEX and Quicken got disconnected somehow. When I tried to reset the account, I was told the AMEX could not be found. After repeating this process three times, I still could not get it connected.

Finally, I disable the account and tried again. I got a message that the account could not be found again, but for some reason this time it connected to the AMEX account in Quicken and updated it.

My question is why I am having so many issues with trying to update my AMEX accounts recently.

Has anyone else experienced these issues recently and know how to get them resolved?

    Hello @ChrisD,

Thanks for sharing the details of your American Express connection issues.

This type of behavior is usually related to temporary connectivity issues between Quicken and the financial institution. Sometimes the connection can become “stale”, or the institution may make small changes that require a reset or reactivation of the account in Quicken.

Since you were eventually able to reconnect after deactivating and reactivating the account, that’s typically the recommended troubleshooting approach.

If these issues continue or return, feel free to reach back out, and we can dig further into it while the issue is actively ongoing.

You can also keep an eye on any Community Alerts for AmEx, as sometimes these errors are related to broader changes at the bank, though we do not currently have any open alerts from AmEx that address this particular issue.

    Hope this helps!
