Quicken should be able to update Gold & Silver Inventory based on spot prices. I can go to a website and lookup the spot prices for each precious metals and update Quicken manually. It should be part of the Net Worth. Need to allow the user select: country = USA & measurement: Gold= grams & Silver = ounces.

Setting up securities with the ticker symbols ^XAUUSD for gold and ^XAGUSD for silver should work, they do for QWin.

Both prices are per troy ounce, so you may need to adjust your gold holdings accordingly

Thanks Jim, they work in the Windows version, not Mac. It's very frustrating for us Mac users who pay for a product that seems to be deaf to the needs of the users who purchase a product expecting it to work.

Does it help if we keep asking the same question? We can track bitcoin in quicken business and personal but not gold? Just doesn’t seem right so I will ask once again to the developers would you please give us a symbol that will allow us to keep track of gold by the ounce. Thanks

I am surprised that the symbols listed above work for Windows but not for Mac.

Adding comments regularly to an Idea post brings it back to the top of the Recent Discussions list and thus gives it more visibility.

If you haven't already voted by clicking on the little up arrow below the vote count in the first post of the discussion, that helps too. This Idea currently has 3 votes; it takes many more (30?) for a Mac Idea to be considered for implementation.

Thanks Jim. Yes I have voted but I’ll go back and look again and see if I can maybe vote again. I’m also surprised that it works on windows, but from what I can gather from ChatGPT is that the windows platform uses a different exchange and those symbols are not valid on the Mac version. A bit surprising for sure.

Unfortunately "Vote early, vote often" does not help.

If you have already voted, the little arrow will be gray, not black. If you try to vote again it will undo your original vote and reduce the count. Voting a 3rd time reinstates your vote.

The symbol ^XAUUSD does not work for me in Quicken Classic for Windows (American version). I've tried all of the instructions that I've been able to find online and none work for me. Additionally, ChatGPT confirms that it will not work.

It's interesting/confusing that it appears to work for some but not others.

I don’t understand why a flaw in a program needs ”votes” to be fixed. It seems to me that Mac users are being punished. This is a basic accounting program and keeping track of assets shouldn’t be platform specific.

The tracking code for gold is working on my windows Quicken Classic, but the Silver code isn't working. Is there something I can do to fix it?
