Fidelity Adding Placeholder Transactions EVERY TIME

Earlier this month, Fidelity's 401(K) requested that I re-authorize its connection with Quicken (which went smoothly). But ever since then, EVERY SINGLE ONLINE UPDATE downloads "dummy" placeholder transactions for the funds that we own with Fidelity. This literally doubles our account for no reason whatsover. We have the correct funds in our Quicken register and the correct number of shares. I continue to delete these transactions but this is truly tedious. Why in the world is this continuing to happen? What can I do to fix this once and for all?

FWIW, I'm using Quicken Classic Deluxe (for Mac), Version 8.3.1 on a macOS 15.6.1.

Similar problems with Fidelity brokerage account. Corporate bond placeholders added in transactions after every update but only with CUSIP, not the name of the security in Quicken. The original transaction appears in the register with just the security name and no CUSIP. Cannot edit the placeholder CUSIP "security" to match the Quicken security; it produces an error "that security already exists." Tried changing the original security transaction to the CUSIP but that resulted in only 100 "shares" being added. These are corporate bonds and Quicken automatically converts the quantity/price to price per 100 shares (e.g., a purchase of 10,000 at $104.50 becomes $10,450 in the register). The next update resulted in a placeholder for 9,900 "shares." Quicken Mac 8.3.2, Mac OS 15.6.1

    Hello @ntrainer,

Thank you for reaching out. Sorry for the delayed response. Are you seeing any duplicate securities appearing, or is it just placeholders that keep getting automatically added for seemingly no reason?

If you are getting duplicate securities, then merging the duplicates with the originals may resolve the issue. For more information on merging securities, please see this article: https://info.quicken.com/mac/merging-securities

If you're having placeholders just randomly appearing, then you may be encountering a file-specific problem, and I recommend that you try restoring a backup from before the problem started, then test to see if the issue is resolved in the newly restored file.

    Hello @Baldlegal,

Thank you for sharing! To clarify, are you ending up with 1 security that has the correct symbol and a 2nd, duplicate, security that shows the CUSIP? If that is the case, have you tried merging the securities to see if that resolves the issue? For information on merging securities, please see this article: https://info.quicken.com/mac/merging-securities

    I hope this helps!
