Investments Online Banking Windows BofA Unable To Verify Financial Institution
Bank of America transaction download…I've received this message for nearly a week now: "Quicken is currently unable to verify the financial institution information for this download. Please try again later." I spent over an hour with a Quicken representative deauthorizing and reauthorizing my accounts due to what he said was a "migration" by BofA. The process hung using one method; another method succeeded for one day's worth of transactions, then the message recurred the following day. I talked to a BofA technical representative who informed me that BofA had not posted that any migration was taking place, so I am at a loss to understand why this error continues to occur. The rep did initiate a formal investigation into the problem with Quicken downloads from BofA but stated that the problem was likely with Quicken. IMHO…Quicken needs to spend more time fixing bugs in its basic functionality than rolling out fancy enhancements to relatively minor features.

Hello @briancmetcalf,
Thank you for reaching out! The "Quicken is currently unable to verify the financial institution information for this download. Please try again later." error you mention is usually associated with Web Connect. Did you get that error while importing a file that you downloaded from Bank of America's website? If that is what happened, then the reason you're seeing that error is Bank of America decided that they will no longer support Web Connect/QFX. See this announcement for more information:
The "migration" the agent was referring to was having to change connection methods due to the one you were using no longer being supported. Were you able to successfully get your account(s) connected? When I check our internal tools, it looks like you were able to successfully add and update your account(s) on 30 Sep, but I'm not seeing anything after that.
I look forward to your reply!

I am having this same problem. I find your answer above insufficient. I have been a Quicken user for about 20 years now. I am up in age and when I tried the method you referred the user above I was completely unsuccessful. Surely Quicken can come up with a better more user friendly. I use Quicken because it is easy. Please find a solution that fixes the problem rather than makes it so complicated.

I tried to do the file import solution you have suggested to other Quicken users. Nothing seems to work. Please make this better! Quicken is supposed to be easy, not complicated. Work with the bank.

I discovered that if you go to the Bank of America site and download the QIF four digit file that you can import the transactions into the specific account

Hello @derndoc_1,
Thank you for sharing! Hopefully that helps others who want to import transactions from Bank of America into Quicken.
Hello @Marion3,
Unfortunately, it was Bank of America's decision to no longer support Web Connect/QFX. When you refer to trying the import that we recommended, are you talking about the CSV import instructions provided in the Announcement? What exact issues are you encountering? Have you tried the work around that @derndoc_1 posted?
Thank you!

I found that downloading my transactionsnto Bank of America via the 4 digit QIF method will automatically enter my current transactions, but will duplicate transactions previously downloaded…Is there a way to use this method daily but NOT duplicate transactions?
I miss my web connect method - was so easy and no duplicates!

Hello @Lisa Odom,
Thank you for sharing your experience. Being as the QIF method is a work around which is not officially supported, I don't have any troubleshooting information for it.
Have you checked the options on Bank of America's website, to see if there's a way to filter the QIF file by date, so that you're downloading a file that contains only the new transactions?
Thank you!
