Fidelity new connection issue (Fidelity NetBenefits now gone)
Quicken Mac
Version 8.3.2 (Build 803.58902.100)
macOS 26.0.1
I have a 401k with Fidelity Investments with a 500 index fund. Connection was DC using Fidelity NetBenefits. Before the connection update the fund name was "VANG INST 500 IDX TR" without an associated symbol in the securities window because it doesn't have one. After the update (now using QC with Fidelity Investments) the fund name was changed to "VANG INST 500 IDX TR (ON9W)" and the symbol box in the Securities window is now ON9W. The problem is that the daily closing price is no longer updated. According to Fidelity this fund is a special fund and doesn't have a symbol as it isn't available outside certain 401k accounts.
So, there must be something that tries to look up the now populated symbol section, doesn't find it and thus doesn't update the price. As a test, I tried to remove the symbol but it will not allow me to save the removal.
How can I get this fund to update daily closing prices without having to do it manually?

Well, the 3 other funds in the 401K now aren't updating either. They didn't work Friday but I did get the closing prices Tuesday morning for Monday closing. Then today nothing for closing yesterday.
What is going on?

Looking at my Netbenefits securities' price histories, they updated on Oct 1, Oct 3 and Oct 7th. I tried updating this morning and while the brokerage account and the 401K say "information updated as of 11pm on 10/8", the price history for each Netbenefits security is showing the last price as of 10/7. All other securities as showing the 10/8 closing price.

The new update is a nightmare. None of the solutions I've found have worked, only made bigger messes to clean up. Be sure to make good backups before attempting anything.

Today it did update the securities in my 401K to 10/9 closing prices when it updated my brokerage account. Hope this continues.
The securities in my 401K are specific to my employer, but they do have a stock symbol.

The one in my original post ("VANG INST 500 IDX TR (ON9W)" ) did not update today for yesterday's prices. However, the other 3 did.
Sure would like for a Quicken employee to jump in and comment.

Hello @Rick2022,
Thank you for sharing your experience. You mentioned that the security name and symbol changed under the new connection method. Are you able to merge the new name with the original one? For information on merging securities, please see this help article:
If that does not correct the issue, since it sounds like you already spoke to Fidelity about this problem, I'd recommend that you contact Quicken Support directly for further assistance, since they have access to tools we can't access on the Community and they're able to escalate the issue as needed. The Quicken Support phone number can be found through this link here. Phone support is available from 5:00 am PT to 5:00 pm PT, Monday through Friday.
I hope this helps!

Yes, all 4 of my funds changed names and I had to match them up and merge. As I mentioned above, some have updated and then a day later won't update. Today 3 updated with Friday values. The one in the original post has never updated on its own.
I'll try to call Quicken next week.

Can we get a real solution? Quicken is failing obviously

When will this Fidelity issue get fixed? 2 major companies, Fidelity and Quicken can't do a conversion correctly? That doesn't say much for either company. Do I stop using Quicken or stop using Fidelity??? Or both.

I hit a wall today. I use quicken primarily to enable me to use TurboTax to file in January rather than waiting for Fidelity 1099 forms which takes months. My quicken logged in and did a quick update, and it properly updated Sept 30 to today. However, nothing I could do would fill in the gap between my prior update and Sept 30. Between my spouse and I we have Simple, Traditional, Roth IRA's separately and 2 inherited accounts so more than 9 Fidelity accounts all with multiple monthly dividends. I counted at least 150 transactions that I would have to enter by hand to fill the gap from my last update to Sept 30th.
Instead I did the following
1. Copied my quicken account to be 2025.qbw
2. Verified it worked, and then removed all my fidelity accounts, which took a while because it takes multiple cicks plus a "yes" for each account deletion.
3. Backed up the clean account.
4. Connected Fidelity again - and this time it did bring down a ton of data, and all I really care about is 2025 transactions and this time the holdings matches my fidelity holdings.
So deleting and starting the investments over worked for me. I thought I would share this.1 -
Hey, Quicken, the reason I pay you for software services is so that I do not have to manually track my separate investment balances and put them all in one place myself. PLEASE correct this annoying nuisance with accessing information from my Fidelity accounts!!! Something similar happened in 2022-23 and now this! What's going on?

I can get mine to update values but I have to sign in to Fidelity each time. Fidelity assures me that it is Quicken's issue. I'm not liking this.

Hello @PhilipKaren, @JR11, & @Heavy,
I can see you use Quicken for Windows. This discussion is in the Quicken for Mac section of the Community. I recommend creating a discussion on the Quicken for Windows side of the Community and providing more information about the issue you're encountering, since troubleshooting steps for Quicken for Mac are different from the steps you would use for Quicken for Windows.
Hello @wb1234,
Thank you for sharing! Hopefully, this helps others with similar issues.
Hello @rasburry,
Thank you for reaching out! To help troubleshoot, please provide more information about the issue you're encountering. When did the issue start? What exactly is happening when you try to access/update your information?
Thank you!

There is no discussion in the Window group but some of us commenting here are Windows users. Posting my initial comment on the Windows side.

Same similar problem here with a Net Benefits retirement account held at Fidelity. On 16 Nov the account showed 5 Vanguard securities. Two of them (VANG INST 500 IDX TR and VANGUARD TARGET INC 3) showed balances and they were correct. The other three were VANG INST 500 IDX TR (O16N), VANGUARD TARGET INC 4 and VANGUARD TARGET INC 3 (PDXM). I don't know what those are, but they all showed shares but no price and no market value.
Then on 16 Nov suddenly the VANG INST 500 IDX TR (O16N) and the VANGUARD TARGET INC 3 (PDXM) also were populated with prices and market value. Nearly the same as the original two securities, but not quite. The original two securities were still populated as well.
I had some problems with my other Fidelity accounts as well, but figured they would get squared away over time and sure enough they did, but the problems with my Net Benefits retirement account never cleared up.
Then on 29 Nov the VANGUARD TARGET INC 3 (PDXM) security was populated with price and market value information as well! I'm getting rich!
Today I called Quicken Support and talked to a gentlemen who said it was a known issue and Fidelity and Quicken were working on it and I should just be patient. For years I've relied on Quicken to be a tool that showed me accurate information across all my accounts, but for the last 5 weeks it has been seriously in error. I hope they get this resolved soon.

Hello @WDLNJ,
Thank you for reaching out! To clarify, you're having an issue with duplicate securities showing up? If that is what is happening, does merging the duplicates with the original security resolve the issue? For instructions on merging securities, please see this article: .
You're mentioning dates in November. Has this issue been happening since November of 2024?
I look forward to your reply!

Hi Kristina,
I have not tried merging the securities. Twice I have called Quicken Support and twice I have been told I should just wait, that Quicken and Fidelity are working on the problem and it should be resolve itself. Neither suggested I tried merging the securities, or offered to help me through it. I guess I'm just nervous about trying something new and possibly introducing other problems. Thanks for linking the article, perhaps some day when I am feeling brave I'll give it a shot.
The problem showed up in Nov 2025. Sorry for the confusion.

Thank you for your reply,
If you're nervous about merging the securities, try making a backup of your file first, so you have a good backup to return to if something goes wrong.
You can also contact Quicken Support directly, if you'd like to have someone walk you through the process over the phone or by chat. Quicken Support's contact information can be found through this link here. Phone support is available from 5:00 am PT to 5:00 pm PT, Monday through Friday. Chat support is available from 5:00 am PT to 5:00 pm PT, 7 days a week.
Thank you!
