Why can't I download updates?

I am on a windows laptop. Never had trouble until lately. I keep getting this message when I select Download update. I have no quickenPatch.exec on my computer

    quickenPatch.exe should be in the same folder as the Quicken program, qw.exe.

    That folder would be c:/Program Files (x86)/Quicken

    quickenPatch.exe is the program that checks to see if there is a program update of Quicken available.

    I am having the same problem with the notice in OSU that Version R64.35 is available and ready to install. Except this notice is different then previous notices, in that it has no details of the patch and what has been fixed. Activating the dialog box prompt fails to install and crashes Quicken.

    So, I find quickenpatch.exe in the directory path you have identified. But finding it on my hard drive doesn't get the new "fix" installed. When I activate the "exe" file of quickenPatch.exe I get another error message: "Unable to check for updates, the server file failed to load"???? Sounds like Quicken techs havea broken server connection between the users and the end users?

    Anyone else having a problem? Almost sounds like I need to uninstall and reinstall QW?

    My advice for now (but not for the long term) would be to ignore this patch because it really is just a "information gathering" release.

    P.S. If this release was more important, I would have said to wait for them to put out the manual patch install and use that. As of now they haven't put out R64.35 as a manual patch install, and I have a feeling they never will because they don't feel that it is that important for users to get it.

    This is where the manual patch installs are put out. If you hover over the link for downloading the patch install it will tell you the version number. The current one is R64.30.
