Holdings view: Need % of Total Account & Ability to Customize
I would love to see a "% of Total Act" column that shows the percent that each investment holding, including Cash, represents of the total investment account, based on the current market value. The total would add up to 100% for that account.
I realize I can do this via the Reports feature but it would be convenient to have it in the Holdings view, either adjacent to the "Market" (market value) column or even at the far right end of the display.
For that matter, I would love to see the ability to customize the Holdings view (perhaps a customization that would apply all to the Holdings views of each of my investment accounts), where I could suppress columns I am not interested in. And have that choice remembered from session to session, much like we can do with the register columns. I would be happy for a single customization of the Holdings view that would apply across all investment accounts … or a individually customizable Holdings view for each account.

In B&P, that info is available in the Portfolio via the "Market Value (%)" column.
Is that sufficient for you, or do you need the info in Holdings also?

Portfolio Views (Ctrl-u) offer great flexibility. Holding view are a simple subset of portfolio views for a single account. Use portfolio views instead.

Thank you, NotACPA and q_lurker. I see what you mean in Portfolio Views (Ctrl-u). However, unless I am missing something, the Market Value (%) column operates across the entire portfolio, while I am trying to *quickly* see the allocation among assets in a single account, without having to go to Customize > Accounts > Clear All > Select desired account > OK.
This is definitely a first-world problem🤣 but I am hoping for the convenience of clicking on "Holdings" while in the account of interest to see Market Value (%) for that account … and, if the developers see fit … to perhaps even customize the columns in the Holdings view.
I guess another approach would be to add a Market Value by Account (%) column to the Portfolio View but would still prefer to have it in the Holdings view if possible.
Thanks again for the ideas though.

I am sure the Market Value (%) calculation has been this way forever, but if a view is grouped by Account, it would make more sense to me that the calculation should just compute the percentage of the total market value in each account rather than the overall percentage. That is the way other measures in the Portfolio views work.
[update] After thinking about this some more, I can see how the "percent of total" calculation makes sense. If you have selected multiple accounts or other groupings, the percentages within each group should add up to the group's percentage of the total, just the way the dollars for each holding in a group add up to the group total.

You can set up and save specific portfolio views as necessary - up to 20 or so customized views. I tend to one view per FI, but then when necessary cut that down to one account at that FI. So much you can do.

Jim_Harman , yes, I have no complaints about the way that Market Value (%) works in the Portfolio view but, when wanting a quick look at a particular account, I would really appreciate Market Value (%) in the Holdings view, which already is filtered by that single account.
I have different investment strategies in different accounts and it would be nice to quickly be able to see Market Value (%) within a single account, something that the Holdings view could do.
I realize I can set up custom reports for each account to do that but I also appreciate the convenience of the Holdings button and it strikes me as a convenient and easy (easy for me to say!) column to add … and one that others might appreciate as well.

q_lurker, thank you re the suggestion regarding up to 20 portfolio views. That is helpful, although it is annoying that, when I have a Portfolio view customized for one account, I can't copy and edit that view and memorize another view that is identical except for a different account. Instead I need to recreate the column customization yet again for each similar view. If the Market Value (%) column was in the Holdings view, it would be a non-issue.
Quicken is quite flexible in its reports and other areas, so my request for the addition of the Market Value (%) column in Holdings is not because I can't eventually see this information after setting up a customized view or report, it's just because Holdings is so convenient and is already filtered for the selected account.
I suppose one could argue for the deletion of the Holdings button altogether on grounds that there are other ways of getting the same information. But I appreciate the convenience of the Holdings button and am just encouraging the addition of a Market Value (%) column that I (and I think others) would find convenient. :)
Thanks again.

@J92130 Honestly, I am not trying to be antagonistic on this or disagreeable. I see the quick value in the Holdings view. My problem as I see it - while one user (you) might value Market (%) greatly, another wants ROI, or Return, or Amount Invested or any one of the breadth of possibilities. I've seen a variety of such requests through the years. Long long time ago, programmer put together the 4 holding views as fixed items. I find some value to the basic Value view, but very little of value in the other three. But that's just me. Would a restructuring be good? Yes, I think so. I'd even go along with Market (%) being included. I just don't see a way for the programmers to please everybody short of making Holdings as versatile as Portfolio view (but limited to the one account — and I don't see that happening.
It is all well and good to ask politely and directly for this type of change as you have done. I just can't see it happening as a one item adjustment or as part of a wholesale change. Don't get your hopes up.
There may well be a similar idea hanging in the Ideas section of this community. That would offer a little more directness to the powers that decide such things, but still I am pessimistic that it would gain enough traction.

q_lurker I certainly did feel not you were trying to be antagonistic — only super helpful as the Quicken Community always has been. I do not have my hopes up. It is just a suggestion, plain and simple.
I've been a big fan, supporter and (looong-ago) beta tester of Quicken and QuickBooks and only want the best for them and for the entire Quicken Community.
Thanks again for your input and for being a super SuperUser.
All the best,
