My accounts seem to be updating but I keep getting a message that says "bill payment users download: unknown error with code+QCS-503 server unavailable. Can you tell me what this is about?

I've been getting the same message for the past 5 days. It doesn't matter if I sync all accounts or only a specific account. I attempted to update a credit card account only (and not any of my Fidelity accounts) and got the same error. The problem is also causing other errors with sync for one of my accounts that requires two step authentication. Because of this error I am unable to complete the authentication process and Quicken for Mac is completely locked and I have to force quit.

Thank you for letting us know you're seeing this error. When I check our internal tools, it appears the reason you're seeing this error is because you are using older versions of Quicken that are still trying to use the old bill manager API. We switched to a new service provider for online billers (for more details, click here), and the previous service provider is no longer available.
To correct this issue, I recommend upgrading your Quicken to the current version and migrating your online billers to the new service provider. For instructions on reconnecting billers to the new provider, click here.
If upgrading your Quicken to the latest version is not an option, then I recommend that you backup your Quicken file, delete your online billers, and make sure to track your bills using bill reminders.

Hello Kristina,
I've got at 2013 Mac and they won't update the operating system any more so I can't upgrade to the newer quicken software. I'm on Version 7.4.2 (Build 704.51578.100). I don't think I am using the online billing service and the information I see by doing internet searches says there should be a "bills & income" tab which I don't have. Is there a different tab for the version I am using?

Same situation here. I have a 2015 Mac and Quicken Mac no longer provides updates for my version of the software despite the fact that I continue to pay for the annual subscription. The only way to get an update is to buy a new MacBook and then upgrade my Quicken software. Seems like you could provide updates for older versions of the software that are critical (not all the new features, just fixes for issues).

Same issue. Never use Bill Pay and don't intend to. Can we get a means of disabling that feature? or can you simply disable for older versions of Quicken? Constant error messages are encouraging folks to switch software.

I tested in my Quicken (by rolling back to an older version) and verified that error pops up even in a completely new file with no accounts or billers added. Since you're not able to upgrade your program to the current version due to device limitations, I forwarded this issue to the proper channels for further investigation and resolution. I am also having this problem. It looks like the API has changed. This is coming at a very bad time. I appreciate that software updates are more difficult on Mac.
I live in japan and have new checking accounts that I no longer bother to order checks for. Paying the bills is a hardship due to this change. Please help.

While waiting for this issue to be resolved, to avoid late payments, I recommend using an alternate service to pay your bills. Many billers allow you to pay through their websites. The financial institution your checking account is with may also offer a bill pay service.

I am able to borrow a mac temporarily. Please let me know if there will be any issue with installing the latest quicken and bringing my backup over to the user on the new mac so that I can do the transactions. License enforcement schemes vary and I am a paying subscriber so I dont want to get fail working around essentially a change that you caused to break customers without letting us know. Do I need to do anything besides install it and type the new license number and import my backup?

You can install Quicken on as many computers as you want. It is a good idea to make a backup of your file prior to moving it. You should also be able to copy your data file over to that other computer without issue. For information on moving a Quicken file between computers, please see this article:

I am able to use a different machine but it makes me re-link all of the pay accounts to what I guess is the new service.
An important side question. I sent a check to a construction team (using the old service) and their bank is saying they will return the check but they are not being clear about why. I can guarantee the checking account has enough money.
Was there a problem with the old service's checks being recognized? Why the switch?0 -

The switch shouldn't impact Check Pay. For more information on what went wrong with the payment, I recommend that you contact Quicken Support directly, since they have access to tools we can't access on the Community and they're able to escalate the issue if needed. Quicken Support's contact information can be found through this link here. Phone support is available from 5:00 am PT to 5:00 pm PT, Monday through Friday. Chat support is available from 5:00 am PT to 5:00 pm PT, 7 days a week (however, the department that is able to check on Check Pay payments is not available on weekends).
