Cash Balance wrong after archiving investment Account

I have two investment accounts, one has a separate linked cash account, the other does not. I archived both accounts.

In the account that has a separate linked cash account, the cash balances are accurate going back into history (which is over 20 years for me).

But not true for the brokerage account that did not have a separate linked cash account. It's historical balances before I archived are way, way, off.

Is that an expected result of the archiving process, or is something wrong?

Thanks

    Hello @HLT,

Thank you for sharing your experience. To clarify, you said:

Is that correct, or did you mean to say after you archived?

If you meant to say this happened after you archived, then no, that is not expected behavior. Our help article on archiving transactions specifies that the process should create transfer transactions between the archive account and the active account to ensure the archive account's balance is $0 and the cash & market balances of the active account are not affected.

Since the file would have already been validated when the archive process finished, the next step to troubleshoot this issue would be restoring a backup from before you archived the investment transactions. In the newly restored file, perform the archive again and check to see if the issue is resolved.

    I hope this helps!

    Kristina,

To clarify. Say I archived on June 15, a brokerage account that did not have a linked cash account.
The brokerage account cash balance is correct after June 15.
The archived account cash balance is zero after June 15, which is correct.

Its the cash balances before June 15 that are off.
The archived account has a large negative cash balance.
The current active account has a large positive cash balance.

Add the two together, and you get back to the actual cash balance was on the historical date.

    That seems wrong.
