merging new checking account with old one
Using Quicken Classic for Windows. I have my old checking acct and new checking acct both installed into Quicken, and they are from the same bank, and both connect via Direct Connect. I have no other transactions going through my old acct, so I will no longer need it, but I would like to merge the data of the two accounts. The old checking has about 30 years of data, which I don't need all of.
Any way of doing this? Copy and paste?

Maybe I should just disconnect the old acct and just start the year with the new acct… I'll still have the data.

Hello @ggulb,
Thank you for reaching out! If these are two completely separate accounts, then it would make more sense to deactivate the old account (don't delete it, since you said you want the history), and add the new account in your Quicken as a new account.
That said, if there is a reason that you need the new account to be a continuation of the old, using the same register in your Quicken, you can do that. To do it, backup your Quicken file and deactivate the old account. Then, navigate to Tools>Add Account and follow the prompts. When you get to the Add/Link screen in Quicken, instead of adding the new account as new, link it to the old account.
Linking it to that old account should cause the new account's information to download into that old account's register.
Warning - You may need to add an adjustment to correct the balance (if the old account's ending balance is different from the new account's starting balance). If the new account is a continuation of the old account, for example, the old account getting closed due to fraud concerns and replaced with the new account, you may also need to check for duplicate transactions.
I hope this helps!
