Discover Card migration: credit card transactions download to the wrong account
I was required to reauthorize my Discover Card. It looks like I have two accounts for the same card: one is named "DiscoverCard", the other is "Discover it Card XX <last 4 digits of card>".
I don't recall having two accounts, but whatever, I reauthorized both of them. New transactions are downloaded into the XX account, but the ledger for that account is empty (no history) so it's the wrong one.
In the meantime, I keep getting a reauthorize request for the "DiscoverCard" account, which I've reauthorized multiple times, but the acknowledgement lists the other (XX) account.
Wires are crossed somewhere. How can I straighten this out?

Discover was bought by Capital One, so that is why you were required to do what you did.
What I would do is to use this FAQ
to move your transactions from the original account to the new account. You will need to make sure that you don't have any overlap of transactions, deleting the duplicates in the new account before doing the move.
You will need to delete the NEW Opening Balance transaction in the new account since it is not needed.
I would also enter a Zero $ transaction in the account to mark the move from old to new for future reference.
NOTE: MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING SO THAT YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO RESTORE IF THINGS GO BADLY.

Thanks Splasher for the quick response.
I found a simpler solution. After restoring from backup, I deleted the wrong (XX) account before doing the reauthorization. The result still mentioned the XX account, but in the Link to Existing Account window, only the correct account was shown. After choosing that, things are back to normal.

Unfortunately, after doing this, multiple accounts (not related to Discover) were reporting CC-800 and I needed to re-add them to get back to a working state.

That was the other option I could have posted, but some folks get lost doing it and you stated that the download was going to the new account and quite often getting the download connection working is the hardest part.
I don't believe your CC-800 issue was due to the Discover changeover, they sound like normal occurrences these days.
