Multiple Users

Hey Everyone,

Is there a way to setup Quicken Canada so multiple users can use the same data file on different computers, WITHOUT having to move the data file between computers. i.e. wife and husband updating their own accounts within the same data file.

Thanks in advance.

Quicken Classic is NOT cloud based. It is designed to be used on a single computer, or if you are very careful, on one computer at a time.

If your needs are relatively simple, you might consider using Quicken's Simplifi product, which is cloud based and allows two people to share their finances, for example sharing a common budget.

Attempting to do that runs a high risk of corrupting the data file.

The two users would only download their own accounts. One person would be responsible for the joint accounts.

basically looking for a cloud based solution for multiple people to access

COMPLETELY UNTRUE. Six days a week, at 7am, Q's "Scheduled Updates" downloads from 5 different banks into my various checking (2 accounts), credit card (4 accounts, 3 banks) and investment (1 FI, 6 accounts) without difficulty or "mess" into my single Q data file.

Q is designed to download from multiple accounts and multiple financial institutions via One Step Update at the same time.

Q user since February, 1990. DOS Version 4
Now running Quicken Windows Subscription, Business & Personal

The question asked in the original post was "is there a way to setup Quicken Canada so multiple users can use the same data file on different computers"? How did a post inquiring about using Q on multiple computers morph into answers that debate whether it can download from multiple bank accounts / financial institutions?

Recap: it is very risky to attempt to use Quicken on multiple computers; there is a high risk of corrupting the data file. Unrelated to the question asked, yes, Quicken is capable of downloading transactions from multiple accounts and multiple financial institutions. Furthermore, it is possible to download transactions from two or more accounts that have joint transactions, but some specific steps must be taken.
