E*trade Two Factor, Never Works the First Time in Quicken

Quicken Classic Premier R65.29, build 27.1.65.29

I have my E*Trade account setup with two factor authentication. E*Trade requires me to use one of those code generating apps.

Every single time, without fail, in Quicken when I hit "update", Quicken will first give me an error. Then I run the update a second time, and only then does Quicken give me the window to enter the 2FA number. Then it works and Quicken updates.

Now this might be unrelated, but almost the same things happens when I log onto the E*Trade website. I use a password manager. When I go to E*Trade's site, the password manager invariably fills the username and password and then attempts to submit - without giving me a chance to fill in the 2FA code. E*Trade says "Nope", then asks me to logon again and this time I have a second to actually fill in the 2FA. Then the logon works.

I have not spoken to Quicken tech assistance about this.

    Hello @James J,

Thank you for letting us know you're still seeing this issue. You mentioned that you see similar behavior when logging into E*Trade's website directly. Does this happen only when using the password manager, or does it also happen when you type in the login credentials manually?

The fact that similar problems happen with two different 3rd party applications (Quicken and your password manager) leads me to suspect the problem might be on E*Trade's end. Have you spoken to them about this issue?

I look forward to your response!
