By pass entry of password when you want to update accounts.
If you already entered the password to get into Quicken why do you have to reenter the password again when you want to update accounts. How can I bypass the second entry?

When you set up an Account that uses the Direct Connect downloading method you're prompted to enter the password used into the Password Vault and that Vault must have a password. (It wouldn't make much sense to have a Password Vault that wasn't password protected itself.) You don't have to do that if you don't want to. But that does mean that each time you do a download you'll need to enter the password(s) manually for the Direct Connect Accounts.

I will also point out that the password for the Quicken data file isn't the same as the password for the Password Vault. Quicken Inc can override the password to the data file, which implies that it isn't true encryption or there is a backdoor password. The Password Vault can't be overridden because it is true encryption and your password is the key. Also, if you aren't using Direct Connect you can delete the Password Vault. Quicken will prompt for the password to the Password Vault if it exists even if there isn't any Direct Connect accounts in it anymore. You can look in the Password Vault and if all of them say that the password isn't needed, then you can delete it.
