All of my transactions for a year in a certain bank account turned to deposits!

Hi - I need help! I use Windows 11 and Quicken R65.20 in Canada. I was just finishing up 2025 when all of my transactions turned to credits! I know I have a backup but I'm scared to do anything - I've spent days and days on reconciling every transaction, and now this! The computer was off, and when I booted it up and opened Quicken, everything had changed so there were no withdrawls! Can someone help me? Thank you!

Are you saying that the transaction amount changed from -123.45 to 123.45 (or the amount moved from the Payment to the Deposit column)?

Or, when you look at the account register, the running Balance column is showing an unexpected positive amount when it should be negative (red) because you owe money to the credit card?

If possible please capture an image of what you're seeing and attach it to your next comment.

From which bank do you download the transactions for this account?

When you download transactions, do you use Web Connect OR Express Web Connect (i.e. One Step Update)?

Yes, the amounts changed from -$123.45 to $123.45 - for the entire year! I don't want to capture an image, sorry, but what was red is now black :-(. I downloaded from Manulife Bank, and it's been fine for 2 years. One Step Update doesn't work with this bank, so I have to download and import. But like I said, it's been totally fine for the past 2 years. Then one day I opened Quicken and all the negative amounts had turned positive!

Understand you downloaded a QFX file.

How frequently do you download data and what was the date range for the latest download?

IOW, I'm trying to figure out if the data download was incorrect.

If you look at Account Details —> Account Type, what is the account type and what is the accout type supposed to be? Is the Account Type supposed to be "Credit" but suddenly changed to "Checking", for example?

In a credit card register the only numbers displayed in red are in the Amount column if you owe money to the credit card company.

If the amounts changed from red to black …

    • Is the account register correctly sorted by Date?
    • have Balance Adjustment transactions appeared in your register? If so, delete them
    • has your account's Opening Balance been changed unexpectedly? If so, fix it to the correct amount it should be.
    • look for duplicate transactions that have been downloaded and delete the duplicates
    • reconcile your account register, comparing it to the bank's monthly statements and resolve any discrepancies.
