Reconciliation Problems

Been using Quicken since 1995 & never had this problem until recently.

Reconciliations used to balance consistently. Now, some don't match & I have uncleared transactions going back to 2023. Some accounts off by $2,000.00.

Am I going senile or is there a problem with the program?

When you're starting a reconciliation, does the starting/prior balance agree with the closing balance on the prior statement?

Them NOT agreeing is the primary (but not sole) reason why the reconciliations sometimes don't work. And the reason why they don't agree is that the cleared indicator on one or more transactions has been manually changed, rather than being changed via a download from the financial institution or a reconciliation.

Save a backup of your file before proceeding, and then… Click on an account with the problem, and select Accounts > Reconciliation History. Go back to the oldest reconciliation showing a Difference/Discrepancy in red. Click on that month and click the Re-reconcile button. Quicken will show you what has changed in that reconciliation, such as a deleted or changed transaction, and allow you to restore the original if it is correct to do so. Continue through your reconciliations until there are no discrepancies left showing in the Reconciliation History screen.
