I cannot find the Mondo patch and all the places that point me to it go to the 404 page.

I started using Quicken waaay back in 1995 (can't remember if there was even a version number back then).

I finally upgraded to Quicken 2014 Deluxe around 2019 or so because I was told by the company that 2014 was the last version that still kept your data locally on your hard drive - not in the cloud, and DIDN'T require a subscription. I was running Windows 7 Pro at the time. It was really all I needed, because I don't download files from banks or other financial institutions. I've always entered my transactions

The Quicken 2014 Deluxe worked perfectly until 2020 when I started getting these same 'Unexpected Error occurred' messages giving me the option of sending report or not. I couldn't do anything, including exiting the program.

When I put the question out to the community a very nice user named Sherlock asked me if I had installed the Mondo patch. I had no idea there even was such a thing so he provided me with a direct link to the Mondo patch (so it was very easy to find) and after I installed it I never had another problem with 'unexpected error' messages and it worked perfectly - until now.

I recently bought a newer PC that has Win 10 already loaded on it.

I have backups of my data from my previous computer saved in several places (including up to date data on flash drives), and I thought Quicken 2014 Deluxe might still work on Win 10, because a couple of very old programs worked fine and I read about lots of people using much older versions of Quicken on Win 10 or 11.

Well the 2014 USB worked for day or so and then I started getting the 'unexpected error' screen of death again.

It (belatedly) dawned on me that since we loaded 2014 (on the Win 10 computer) directly from my 2014 Deluxe disc, that it wouldn't have the Mondo patch. I was certain that if I could find Sherlock again, he could send me directly just to the place where the Mondo patch resides now and if so, I could re-install it and everything would be fine - just like it was last time. I haven't seen anything from him, so I guess he's not on this site anymore.

I finally found a seller on ebay that was selling Quicken 2014 (only it was for Home and Office - which I didn't think would be a problem), but I made sure to message her about my issue before I purchased the USB to specifically ask her if the Quicken 2014 she was selling included the Mondo patch. She assured me that it did.

Well, it simply can't be - because it threw up the now all-to-familiar error message the first time I tried to use Reminders. She told me 'for now' not to use bill Reminders. Huh? So I stopped trying to use that function. It still blew up.

She asked me to run 'Validate and Repair', and I told her I do that all the time as well as backing up my data constantly and to manually enter transactions as well, since even trying to do that would blow up. But okay, I tried manually entering a few transactions and it kept blowing up. I messaged the seller and told her that the Mondo patch clearly wasn't on the USB and again, she STILL swears the USB includes the Mondo patch and that my data must be corrupted. Her answer to all of my messages asking for the Mondo patch is that it HAS to be corrupted data.

Then it just kept getting worse. I can't even manually enter transactions (which is how I've always done it since 1995). (Oh, I also can't use 'splits' on any transactions either.)

Error message after error message (some with the same error code and some with different error codes. I have re-entered 2 months' worth of data over and over and over again in the credit card account we use the most and our checking account. Not only do you lose a 'bit' of the data you just entered - and trust me, I try to back it up after no more than 3 transactions. Nope, it still blows up.

It finally got to the point where the error message literally locked up the program and I could only get back into Quicken by literally re-loading the software. She told us to STOP reloading the software, but what's our alternative unless or until she sends us the Mondo patch or a new USB (that she makes sure contains the Mondo patch). My husband messaged her again today, and hasn't heard back from her.

Well, I couldn't (and still can't) find a direct link to the patch and all the links on the community site that say they are for the Mondo patch take me to a page with '404 error'. Sadly it looks like Sherlock is not on the community site anymore.

At her request, I once again ran validate and repair.

Here's what the top of the report says:

QDF

Validating your data.

No errors.

QEF:

No read errors.

QEL:

All internal consistency checks passed.

I decided to print out a report going back to 1/1/96 - yikes, I didn't realize how many pages I was going to get.

My husband even went back and loaded Win 7 on the test computer, but alas, that didn't work either. I suppose that's because he's also loading that from the Win 7 disc as well (and once I backed up data from the new PC and Win14), I assumed that the data was just not backward compatible. Then I tried to find a backup data file from before any of this started happening to see if that would work. Nope.

Both my husband and I (he's the one trying to get the 'test' computer to work) have messaged her over and over asking her to simply send us the Mondo patch. Since she keeps saying that it's on the USB, she must have the patch, right. I also told her again that I've performed everything she asked me to do and it's still blowing up. She keeps coming back - not with a copy of the Mondo patch - but assuring me that it's on the USB and she checks all the software before she sends it out and it MUST be corrupted data.

How is that possible when I never have any errors when I run validate and every time I back up the data file, the familiar window comes up telling me my backup was successful. Every single time.

Now I'm just frantic. This mess has taken up 2 solid weeks of (both my husband and I) trying everything we've been asked to do and every time we ask her to please provide JUST the Mondo patch, we can't seem to get her to send it. If she claims it's on on the USB (as she told me before I bought it), than she must have it somewhere so she can load it on the USBs she's selling.

I can't beg for help any more than I already have, and I'm hoping that somebody - anybody can point me to where I can find JUST the Mondo patch.

I will be eternally grateful (as will my poor husband) if anyone out there can just send me the Mondo link.

Thanks for bearing with me through all this. I know, it's A LOT.

Here is why you are getting the 404 error:

-splasher using Q continuously since 1996
    - Subscription Quicken - Win11 and QW2013 - Win11

And if you follow the link to the Quicken Patches in above Website gone discussion, you should be able to locate the correct year version, 2014. Download and install the highest available patch release file with a "Mondo" name (the Mondo files are cumulative and contain all prior patches, rolled up into one file). That should fix your crash problem.
Be sure to save that downloaded file offline on a USB stick, in case you need it again.
