Placeholders!!!!

After downloading from my broker, an IRA account had 58 placeholders, all on the same date. I tried deleting all of them, but that proved to be the WRONG solution. I'm considering deleting all transactions from the account. And download again. Any suggestions?
P.S. I do have backups.

Out of curiosity, was this the first time you had downloaded data for this account? Was there one placeholder for each security in the account?
Were the placeholders at some date in the past, or on the download date?

I am looking into ways to improve the instructions for resolving placeholders.
