What is the best way to move a security and all associated transactions from one investment account to another? I track cost basis by lot and would like to retain all cost basis information.

If you moved securities from one brokerage to another brokerage, I suggest you use the Shares Transferred Between Accounts wizard: open the source account, select Enter Transactions and Shares Transferred Between Accounts in the Enter transaction: pull-down menu6

Using the Shares Transferred function will retain the cost basis as the shares are added into the new account. There is no need to transfer all the associated transactions (Buys, Sells, ReinvDiv, etc.)1

If you want to track performance over a period that spans the transfer date, be sure to include both the old and new accounts in the analysis.QWin Premier subscription1

Thanks to each of you. This seemed to work fine and retain my cost basis by lot information.0
