How to transfer assets from Vanguard to Fidelity?
Gary LeMann
I will be transferring all my Vanguard assets to an existing account at Fidelity. How should I do this in Quicken?

[edited] For a taxable account, go to your Vanguard account, click on Enter Transactions, and select Shares transferred between accounts. Delete or do not accept any downloaded transactions related to this transfer.
Different instructions for an IRA or Roth conversion.

In the Shares transferred between accounts dialog, there is an "All securities" option. This will transfer everything at once. Resolve any Placeholders in the Vanguard account and back up your data first in case something goes wrong.
The Shares Transferred will create one Removed transaction for each security you currently hold in the Vanguard account and an Added transacetion for each tax lot of each security in the Fidelity account, thus preserving the cost basis information. This will take some time if there are a lot of tax lots. Be patient!

How will they do the transfer? Are you selling Vanguard and buying into Fidelity? Is this in a IRA, 401K or a retirement account?

Are you moving securities from Vanguard to Fidelity? Or Cash?
Do you hold Vanguard funds? Or stocks/bonds/cd/etc?
Have you already made this transaction in real life?

The transfer will move all Vanguard mutual funds, as they are, to Fidelity in late Jan or Feb. No stocks, bonds, or IRA's involved.
Jim Harman: I assume each individual fund in my account is to be transferred one at a time.
