TurboTax 2019 - now has 14-char "Activation Code"

Looks like another vendor is going this "protection" route of having an Activation Code with the software.  Just installed our TurboTax 2019 - and it now has a 14 char code to be entered....

Don't recall this from previous years...

Yes the License Code is new this year.  People are having problems with it.  It's so you can only install the Desktop program on 5 computers.   And gives you access to the download if you don't have a CD drive (and bought the CD).  But sometimes it asks for the code each time you start the program and uses up the 5 installs.

Ok granted, the last time I used TurboTax was 2015 (I am behind on filing) but I needed one then and every year before that. Not sure if it is different for the CA versions vs US.

Canada?  Yes there are differences.  Don't know if CA has had a Code before.  This year CA has a 21 digit code.

Up until 2015 it did. Cannot speak to 2016-2019 but I see no reason why they would have removed it for those 4 taxation years if they have had it all along, especially since it seems they are moving to include it now for the US.

Why do you need a License Code?  You still have to buy the Desktop CD/Download program in the first place to install the program and it comes with a code.

To do taxes. I was able to download the program free but still need the code to activate it :/ no worries if no one can help, i didn't mean to cause any issues. I looks like someone already flagged my previous comment. Cheers!

How in the world did you download it for free?  If you got it somewhere else and not Turbo Tax it might be fake and full of viruses.  And if you got it from someone else you need their License Code.
