How do I do a transfer between registers like I could in Quicken 2007?

yes...First make sure your Preference is set to "Allow creation of linked transfers using the category field" in the General settings then simply enter [account name] in the category field.

Be aware that if you do not have the Transfer field visible, when autofill enters transactions with a transfer, simply clearing the category field of the linked transfer does NOT clear the transfer...You still have to manually clear the Transfer field (so you have to make it visible). A real oversight in the design.
