Is there any downside to purchasing a subscription via Amazon vs through Quicken?

Longtime Quicken for Mac user here. It sounds like we are being forced to "upgrade" to the online subscription version. I have seen references to less expensive versions available via Amazon. Just wondering if there are any potential downsides to buying the subscription via Amazon or through Quicken. Right now they are offering me 2 years of the Deluxe for $89.00. Thanks for any thoughts.

No downsides...only up... with third party you get cheaper price and your subscription membership does not start until you apply your activation code vs from Quicken membership starts immediately, you do not have to provide Quicken with a credit card, and you are not automatically set up for auto-renew.

But no one is forced to upgrade. Their service includes a free period of online/downloading functionality. So if you desire these, then you need to upgrade/renew. Otherwise, you can continue to use Quicken in a manual entry mode (as long as you do not have the Starter version of the subscription, which will render your data read-only after expiration).

NOTE: You can still import security prices via CSV file even with an unsupported or expired version of Quicken.

Thank you! I can't go back to manually entering data so I guess I have to go with the subscription model - and will do so via Amazon!
