Can I import old (mac 2006) files AFTER start-up?
Current situation mandates I keep current,
Will I lose the ability to (possibly, if I can get it to work) import old info if I just go ahead & get current data into the new program??
ie: set up the new program & stay current.

If you mean can you start using the new QMac and later import data from old QM2006 data files, the answer is probably yes. Officially, you can merge multiple QM2007 data files into one single new QMac data file. And though not directly supported, since QM2006 data files are technically the same as QM2007, you may be able to also (Many users have successfully migrated QM2006 data files to new QMac but some have run into issues, requiring first to move to QM2007 beforehand.).
Also note that migrating old data into a current data file may result is some amount of clean-up, especially if it conflicts with any data you have already entered. But why wait to try? If you are going to move to new QMac, why not migrate a QM2006 as soon as possible?
